Community Health Program is a outreach wings of Christian Hospital Chandraghona. After the Liberation War in 1971, the hospital started a feeding program as part of a rehabilitation scheme .This developed into a community health programme .In 2006, the new CHP was launched to meet a growing need for more accessible health care. It aims to improve the health status and gender relation of the surrounding area, especially remote areas, over a few year period and is designed to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Current project is supported & funded by Bread for The World (BftW), Germany. In 2006 the program is funded by SIMAVI, The Netherlands & BftW, Germany.
The vision of CHP is to strengthen the community health workers (BMW) in health development initiatives and preventive health care to achieve the post MDG to SDG and as a local NGO all our works has been designed in the light of MDG’s to SDG to strengthen the initiative of the Government health program

The project is also committed to advocacy work, promoting the right to heath care which is almost non –existent in many remote hilly areas.
Over all Project objective: Objective: By the Year 2022, the Health status and Gender relations of the targeted population in 205 villages under 5 unions of Kaptai upazila and 1 union of Rangunia upazila respectively in Rangamati and Chittagong districts will be improved.
Sub Objectives:-

1. Improve maternal and child health.
2. Improve health seeking behaviour of the overall population.
3. Strengthen participation of women in leadership in community level.

Alignment of the Objectives & Indicators with SDGs:
Goal 3- Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages;
Goal 5- Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girl;
Goal 6- Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

Project Area : Its cover five union of Kaptai Upazila under Rangamati Hill District & 1 union of Rangunia Upazila under Chittagong District.

This programme operates on two levels:
1. 71 well trained Basic Medical Workers live in the project areas. They deliver basic treatment, educate the community on common illnesses, sanitation & gender, ensure immunisation coverage through government centers and record vital health information.
2. CHC which acts as the referral centre for the first tiers.CHP is well integrated with the work of the hospital services. CHP also works with the community, its leaders, other NGOs and the government to ensure maximum output of services. This work is now established and looks set to play a significant role in both the well –being of the local population and future of the hospital.
